Theory Thursday – Signs

Shapes of Road Signs

Today, we’ll look at signs. Signs can give a variety of information, the basics is to recognise the shape of the sign before identifying the information in it.

A triangle sign WARNS of a potential hazard
A circular sign gives an ORDER and depending on the colour this could be a DO or DO NOT therefore a triangle or circular sign might show the same symbol, for example a cyclist – A warning of cyclists or that cyclists are/are not permitted.
Rectangle signs show information such as directions or distances.
